Check the smell. Compared to a number 2, the odour of a dead body is quite distinctive.

Could be that the chamber of secrets has been re-opend :O
As the books are over with, maybe this is an attempt at a sequel? As the door is still locked, I'm gonna say that Harry P didn't make it out this time...
